Preggo Ballerina

PREGNANCY is a time to let my skin glow, hair shine and think encouraging, positive thoughts. Since this is my 3rd pregnancy and I really don’t care what people think, here’s what PREGNANCY stands for me lately :

P is for Pissed Off that I keep peeing when I sneeze. It takes every ounce of muscle strength in my nether regions to stop the urine flow. Thank goodness for panty liners.

R is for the Ridiculous expectations I have of myself. I recognize they are utterly and truly ridiculous expectations and yet, I still get angry that I haven’t done what I set out to do for the day, week, month, year or decade. Also, I need to stop comparing myself to pregnant supermodels because, well, that’s just RIDICULOUS.

E is for Energy sucking little vampires I grow in my belly. Will I turn into a vampire after I give birth like Bella in the Twilight series? I hope so.

G is for Grumpy because I’m not sleeping throughout the night. I especially love it when she decides to do a crazy roll when I’m in deep sleep. It’s startling at first, then sweet and then I’m up for an hour. This routine happens about 3-5 times a night. I wake up grumpy and annoyed.

N is for Nausea. Do you remember that feeling of wanting to throw up from a crazy hangover, but can’t? You try and try to gag yourself with your fingers so you can induce vomit but sometimes it just doesn’t work. Anyway, that’s the way I felt for a little more than half of my pregnancy. The constant hangover that just won’t go away.

A is for Anesthesiologist. Why? Because I’m hoping and praying that this time my anesthesiologist will not deliver my baby. “Nurse, can you please check her?” the anesthesiologist asked. The nurse responds, “she’s fully dilated.” The anesthesiologist clapped his hands and got up from his chair, “LET’S DO THIS.”EXCUSE ME. OMG. Where is my OB?! He went home to eat dinner with his wife!! To be Continued… Will save this labor and delivery story for another post.

N is for Nipples from my 20s that I wish I can have back. Will discuss later.

C is for Compare. Again, do not compare myself to Amal Clooney and Beyonce.

Y is for youth. My long lost youth, how I miss thee.  Anyway, missing my youth just makes me want to live in the moment because I don’t want to be 60 years old wishing I was 40 again. Going to enjoy my present right now. Just like I did on Saturday when my closest and dearest girlfriends threw me the most amazing Baby Sprinkle Soiree! They opened up their hearts, creativity and beautiful home. Friends gathered to celebrate the upcoming birth of my little baby girl! Surrounded by fragrant flowers, yummy food, great conversations and amazing energy. Can’t help but to feel so lucky and grateful for all that I have!

Whoa, that ended on a happy note. I really didn’t expect that. Anyway, this was quite therapeutic for me, so I’ll see if I can post more PREGNANCY related posts before baby arrives. Thanks for taking the time to read this!

Wowza!

Dresses

Wow Wow Wowza!

So honored and excited to be featured as one of six up and coming fashion illustrators to follow on IG!

Thank you so much clozette.co!

Found out a week ago, but every time I read this article I want to dance and cry it out! I’m just really emotional like that.

This illustration was inspired by one of my favorite emojis. I’m twinning with my sister in Valentino because that’s what we used to do when we were younger. Even though my sister is two years younger than me, we’d make sure to coordinate and wear matching polka dot outfits in elementary school. We looked freaking adorable! Not sure why we got teased by the mean older girls on our walk back home from school. That never stopped us from twinning! Made us love fashion that much more!

Golden Illustrious Icons

I’m trying something new with the illustrious icons.  These woman crush wednesday illustrations are done in pencil and then I highlight around the face with a cluster of metallic gold hearts or stars. It’s quite meditative when I’m drawing the hearts or stars and it can be quite soothing. During this “golden zen” part of the illustration, I can reflect on their courageous hearts and how they make me want to be a better human being. These pencil drawings are a nice break from the markers and it actually breaks up my IG feed a bit with a calming dash of gold.  Poorna Malavath, Lizzie Velasquez and Grace Lee Boggs are my golden illustrious icons.

Illustrious Icons

Can’t believe I haven’t posted here in two months! I have a really good reason and evidence. If you’ve been following me on IG, then you know why. Check out my Instagram feed for my daily illustrations. Right after Viola Davis won the Emmy, I pulled out my Chartpak AD markers that I stored away for 15 years. I haven’t used them since my fashion school days and shockingly the markers still work like a charm. I was compelled to use them to illustrate Viola instead of gouache. Ét voila! I was pleased with the result, so I kept going. I definitely illustrate faster with the markers which helps if I’m going to be illustrating at least one sketch a day. So began my love affair with my fashion school markers. The only setback are the fumes but keeping the windows open for ventilation definitely helps. In order to bring structure to my illustrating schedule, I’ve created themes for each day. A few examples would be Meow Meow Monday, Tuesday Crew Day, Woman Crush Wednesday, Thursday Do Good Day, Fleur Day Friday, Saturday Scribble Day and Sunday Swoon Day. They change each week except for Woman Crush Wednesday and Thursday Do Good Day. I’m constantly inspired by the news and those designated days are when I illustrate them into a fashion sketch or icons. Viola Davis and Malala Yousafzai are definitely illustrious icons.
